- This open-access book is one outcome of AHRC-funded research that brought together over five years researchers, museum staff, Blackfoot ceremonial leaders, educators, students, and artists, to collaboratively engage with five early C19th 'war shirts' in the Pitt Rivers Museum. The research involved working with early C19th archives, artefact analysis, and extended fieldwork in Blackfoot territory. The result offers multiple perspectives -Blackfoot, curator, conservator, young, old - and the request is made to recognise the complexities of ethically producing a book that includes so many contributors, but also to acknowledge the design/editorial choices that brings the research to a wide audience.
