- Lithium-ion batteries gradually lose their capacity to charge and discharge over time; reliable models for the degradation did not exist prior to this work. The battery capacity fade model presented is not only accurate but is also computationally fast, so that it can be incorporated in a battery management system for real-time battery monitoring. This modelling methodology is now being used by JLR (contact: Jason Page, jpage2@jaguarlandrover.com), TVS motor (J Dinakaran, j.dinakaran@tvsmotor.com) and OVO Energy (Kotub Uddin, k.uddin@ovoenergy.com). The work reported in this paper was funded by EPSRC as a joint project with Chinese academic partners.
