- The work describes a novel concept for the fault-tolerant operation of dual three-phase motor drives after an open-phase fault, based on model predictive control. As demonstrated with the results, a significant improvement in the quality of the post-fault operation is achieved, when compared to previous solutions. A comprehensive theoretical development is accompanied by detailed experimental verification. A major output from the joint PhD degree with University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, which also includes international collaboration with the said university. Led to an invited fully-funded keynote at a major IEEE conference (Int. Symposium on Industrial Electronics ISIE), Istanbul, Turkey, 2014 (http://www.isie.boun.edu.tr/pageples.asp).
