- Sponsored by the EU Smarter project (PEOPLE-2013-IAPP-610675), new modelling and optimisation methodologies were developed for energy efficient-machining processes, providing a customisable solution to machining Small and Mid-sized Enterprises (SMEs). The first author was sponsored on the project as a Marie Curie Fellow and seconded to a high-precision machining SME in the UK to develop research for one year. Industrial case studies were developed to validate the applicability of the research to industrial practices (contact: Peter Everitt, previous CEO of Powerkut, peter@Ind4-1.com). The research was presented in a keynote in the 11th CIRP Conference on Industrial Product-Service Systems, Hong Kong, China.
