- This paper proposes and compares original ideas of decision support approaches for cyber security investment and is the most cited original paper for cyber investments during the last decade. The innovative software produced for this paper can be used by decision makers to compute optimal sets of cyber security controls subject to their budget. The paper validates the advice advocated by the UK government with regards to the requirements for basic technical protection from cyber-attacks in SMEs. It is currently extended in research projects NCSC MERIT, H2020 CUREX, and H2020 SECONDO Marie Curie RISE.
