- We apply aesthetic principles to the challenge of designing interactions for elephants to provide cognitive challenges and entertainment. We demonstrate how computing technology and natural materials can be combined and integrated within the environment. Published in the leading international conference on designing interactive systems, ACM DIS2020 (acceptance rate 24%), the paper received both an Honourable Mention and Diversity and Inclusion Recognition. This work led to the development of enrichment interventions for elephants in sanctuaries (Skanda Vale) and zoos (Noah's Ark), through the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (Vice Chair, BIAZA Elephant Welfare Group, details on request).
