- This study describes a detail analysis of a new technology (screw and plating system) for treatment of fractures following hip replacement, that is now commercially available. This work: (1) was a collaboration between teams of orthopaedic surgeons and engineers from Greece and UK, funded by industry (Zimmer); (2) set the foundation for an EPSRC Case award with a global industrial partner, DePuySynthes (£70k - 2017-21- Ref: 1961103 related to EP/N509577/1) on developing a fracture plate; (3) has led to several ongoing collaborations between Aristotle University Medical School (Greece) and UCL Mechanical Engineering with exchange of students and clinical staff.
