- At nearly 150,000 words, Madness and the Romantic Poet is longer than most other academic monographs, representing almost a decade’s worth of research and writing. A longform output demonstrating sustained and interdisciplinary research effort, it is based on the analysis of a large array of primary sources both literary and non-literary, and engages with multiple strands of secondary analysis in discrete areas (such as reception studies, the history of medicine, periodical studies, and life writing) and from the expansive critical tradition on almost all of the canonical Romantic authors.
