- A novel application of the theory of granular computing that allows a systematic presentation of individual rules as computing granules. This leads to better structuring of data and more effective extraction of knowledge from data in comparison to established knowledge extraction methods. Granular computing is an emerging computer paradigm, which is rapidly gaining recognition as evidenced by the establishment of a new Springer “Granular Computing” journal. This work demonstrates its relevance and importance for rule-based systems.
