- Double-weighted statement
- This study of prehistoric colonization and Roman town-hinterland dynamics covers four major CAU excavations. The most significant were those at New Hall in 1994 and at Vicar’s Farm in West Cambridge in 2000. Ten other smaller excavations are also presented. Having 280 figures, the 528-page volume includes many detailed specialist studies (including of a Roman-period cemetery). It also includes a critical review of John Alexander’s Roman Cambridge and an appraisal of the Roman town’s more recent sites. In addition, the book presents the archaeology of the Darwin Family Estate formerly within the grounds of Murray Edwards and Fitzwilliam College.
