- The output of a Leverhulme Major Research Fellowship, this 90,000 word monograph recovers more than 250 examples of radical writing for the young as well as related contextual material from archives, memoirs and histories to rewrite the history of early twentieth-century children’s literature. Its interdisciplinary approach draws on period, fine art, architecture, health, book history and childhood studies, contributing new material and insights to each. It has inspired two international conferences and new work in children’s literature studies.
