- Double-weighted statement
- This large book represents an extended research effort over many years. The three editors designed the format and contents of the volume including the agenda-setting elements and commissioned the papers. The passing of one of the editors meant that the editing of the volume, and writing of multiple chapters within the volume, fell to Cummings and Jordan. The project took seven years to complete. It involved the collation of thematic approaches to this topic and sets the agenda for hunter-gatherer studies on a world scale.
