- Puberty in Crisis is based on ten years research into an extensive archive of scientific, biomedical, historical and contemporary cultural accounts of sexual development. It traces the history of scientific and biomedical accounts of pubertal development and critically explores cultural and medical concerns about the impact of declining age of pubertal onset in girls across the world. The book develops work on sex hormones, reproduction, ageing and health biosensing. It contributes to interdisciplinary feminist and sociological debates on the bio-psycho-social nature of human embodiment and has been used to develop innovative sex education materials around puberty.
