- This volume is the product of a collaborative, six year project, involving over 40 contributors. It explores the findings of multiple campaigns of archaeological recording on Sheffield Castle over c.100 years. The archives from mid-20th-century excavations had to be catalogued and studied for the first time, and c.900 individual unpublished files from Sheffield Museum were released with the ADS to accompany the book. The material remains from those excavations received specialist analysis as part of the research. The research also included the study of the unpublished archives of c.15 years of excavation at the castle’s hunting lodge.
