- Double-weighted statement
- This single-author c.90,000-word research monograph is the first substantial study of Christopher Smart’s translated works and the only publication on several of his writings. Alongside analysis and contextualisation of Smart’s translations of Phaedrus’s fables, the Book of Psalms, and the complete works of Horace, it applies translation theory to reassess Smart's religious poetry and hymns. The monograph addresses three distinct areas of literature and scholarship: biblical poetry, Latin poetry, and original lyric verse and is the product of substantial primary and secondary research.
