- This study is based on data which was collected for over nine years. The research is based on a large body of source material that includes the use of previously untranslated primary sources in Persian and Arabic, including hard to access manuscripts, along with primary sources in Latin and Chinese, in a variety of literary genres (i.e. chronicles, hagiographies, travel accounts).
