- Double-weighted statement
- This 617-page edition draws on more than three decades of research by the author. It is the most comprehensive selection of De Quincey’s work to appear in decades, and features more than twenty essays in which De Quincey writes as addict, autobiographer, biographer, literary critic, rhetorician, satirist, and true-crime reporter. The volume contains a wealth of manuscript material, including nearly twenty pages related to Suspiria de Profundis (1845), some of it published here for the first time. The endnotes comprise more than 20% of the volume, and constitute the most thorough annotation of De Quincey’s major works ever compiled.
