- This project was funded by the US Air Force (Grant FA9550-15-1-0293, 229k USD). It contributed to the award of a £6.1M EPSRC Programme Grant, EP/R045291/1, to study the mechanical deformation of biological tissues and cells submitted to ultrasonics. This also led to a joint successful ESRF application with C. Siviour and D. Eakins (University of Oxford) to combine X-ray diffraction and high strain rate deformation (Sept. 2018). Finally, it was awarded the 2019 M. Hetényi Award from the Society for Experimental Mechanics as best 2018 paper in Experimental Mechanics (Springer).
