- This 135,000 word monograph represents over 6 years of painstaking and detailed research into both Mark's Gospel and the wealth of ancient Graeco-Roman biographies and the secondary literature associated with them. Earlier versions of chapter 6 were presented as the Manson Memorial Lecture in Manchester (2014) and as an article in New Testament Studies (65 [2019], 425-42). The argument as a whole was presented as the Johannes Munck Lecture in Aarhus (2019).
