- This international and collaborative research involving postgraduate students describes the fundamentals involved in ion-selective electrodes (ISE). It will play an important academic and industrial role in the fabrication and optimisation of new ISE. It proposes an updated model for the determination of selectivity of ISE taking into account the diverse stoichiometries of the possible complexes formed between ionophore and ions (or interfering ions). It is hoped that the article will establish a benchmark for other researchers and industrialists in this field.
