- This volume addresses representation of the public interest in Internet standard developing organisations (SDOs), adding to research on the relationship between politics and protocols. It emerged from the three-year ESRC funded project International Professional Fora: A Study of Civil Society Organisation Participation in Internet Governance (2015-2018). The project involved interviews with actors in international SDOs (such as the Internet Engineering Task Force, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the World Wide Web Consortium), as well as analysis of key primary source documentation. It undertakes case analysis of privacy and security, mobile communications, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and copyright.
