- This research monograph is both a contribution to social theory and a synoptic empirical work. The first attempt to apply the “social construction of reality” approach in social theory to a digital datafied society, it involved an extensive review of multiple theoretical literatures, and the development of a social constructionist approach through 11 chapters, argued in relation to a range of fundamental areas of society: space, time, the self, collectivities, and data, each chapter itself being based on a major investigation and literature review. Written over 3 years, it draws on a longer research collaboration lasting 10 years.
