- The European Telecommunications Standards Institute requested this first ever evaluation of secure implementation of the TUAK algorithm on embedded SIM (eSIM) chips. Based on the findings, 3GPP published TUAK within its international telecommunications standards and the GSM Association (GSMA) mandated it within all eSIMs. Standard 3GPP TR 35.935 exists solely to refer to this research. By December 2020, approximately 1.4billion eSIMs had been issued, for automotive, industrial IoT and consumer devices; 20+ flagship smartphones (Apple, Samsung, Google and Huawei) support eSIM.
Funding from GCHQ and GSMA.
Peer-reviewed conference plus invited extended journal version, inviting embedded security performance contributions.
