- This book is the first detailed account of how British co-operative wholesale societies developed global supply chains and overseas trade in the 150 years following their foundation. It makes extensive use of reports, newspapers and personal papers from the National Co-operative archive, including much previously unseen material, as well as drawing on government sources held in the National Archives. It draws on literatures in several disciplines, and offers new insights not only into the British and global co-operative movements, but also into the history of supply chain management, thereby contributing to business and management studies as well as history.
