- In this paper we have paved the way for doubling the capacity of novel Nonlinear Fourier Transform based fibre optical communication systems, by exploiting both light polarisations. We have demonstrated for the first time NFT based dual polarisation communication system experimentally and developed key theoretical tools for that. This work was done in collaboration with Prof. D. Zibar's group at DTU, Denmark and the technique presented has inspired research by several leading academic and industrial groups worldwide (Nokia Bell Labs (10.1109/TCOMM.2019.2935716), Huawei (10.1109/LPT.2018.2860124), amongst others).
