- This essay is a chapter in a book of scholarly art history essays on the American Conceptual artist Douglas Huebler, the first book of this kind on his work. Rahtz considers the referential aspects of Huebler’s work in terms of the linguistic category of deixis, with particular reference to Roland Barthes and Émile Benveniste. The essay was translated into French for this publication. The PDF includes both the published book introduction and the chapter in French, and the original chapter text in English.
