- Double-weighted statement
- This is a large (340 pages) work of scholarship in the Cambridge Classical Texts and Commentaries series. The sources analysed are complex because many of the texts in the book had never been translated into any language, nor were there any previous commentaries; some had never even received a critical edition, owing to their severe textual corruption and general incomprehensibility. The author had to study all the manuscripts in person, which required travel to Montpellier (France), Vienna, Berlin, Leiden, and Paris as well as several libraries in the UK.
