- A sequel of sorts to 81 Austerities (2012), the collection consists of 72 poems, composed using a rotating set of 18 ‘key words’ as titles, which were put into a search engine, with the results harvested and manipulated to produce poetry that is part collage, part improvisation. The text is often self-reflexive, and prompts consideration of the shifting lines of public and private language in the 21st Century, exploring new terms of presentation and obfuscation. The book draws on techniques pioneered by 20th Century avant-gardes, and updates them for the internet era, to mount a speculative challenge of the authority of the poetic voice.
