- We report on the synthesis of Cr2Se3 hexagons (h-Cr2Se3) for electrochemical sensing in water supplies of 4-nitrophenol (4-NP), now considered a major water pollutant with serious health implications. The application of h-Cr2Se3 modified electrodes in the detection of 4-NP demonstrates higher sensitivity, a wider linear range, and higher detection sensitivity over previously reported 4-NP sensors. The outcomes of this paper were implemented for the fabrication of high performance water sensors for the detection of phenolic compounds in the Al-Batinagh region of the Sultanate of Oman in work funded by the British Council Joint Academic Development Programme UK/Gulf.
