- This book offers a new and insightful approach to the Iliad and Odyssey, bringing together Gender Theory and the burgeoning field of New Materialisms, new to classical studies. It pioneers this approach within Classics, drawing on a wealth of theory and scholarship from the Social Sciences to Philosophy to Quantum Physics. The multi-faceted theoretical framework is combined with close reading of a large corpus of epic poetry. The book is the outcome of a project spanning Humboldt and Leverhulme postdoctoral fellowships across 6 years.
