- The Palace Complex is an ethnographic monograph arising from sixteen months’ field research, during which the author conducted eighty interviews; organised public discussions; and carried out extensive archival research. The interdisciplinary research involved collaboration with research and arts institutions, municipal authorities and media organisations; it was complemented by a 70-question survey, which received over 5,000 responses; and by several years of follow-up research, charting the changing fortunes of the book’s subject – a Stalinist skyscraper in Warsaw – during a time of deep political and social tension.
