- This paper was selected for publication in Acta Astronautica after being presented at the 67th International Astronautical Congress in Guadalajara, Mexico (2016). The small satellites constellation concept described in the paper was used to write the successful application for a grant funded by the Federal District Research Foundation (FAPDF) in Brazil. The project (title ‘Alfa Crux satellite communication system’, total value approximately £300000) is coordinated by Dr. Borges from the University of Brasilia and involves researchers from the University of Nottingham and Sheffield Hallam University.
