- This paper provides a new approach to study the linear stability for nonlinear partial differential equations of integrable type. The paper has led Sommacal and Lombardo to be awarded a London Mathematical Society (LMS) Scheme 4 grant (2018, Ref No: 41808). It was recognised in an invited talk at the Symmetry and Perturbation Theory (SPT) conference (June 2018, Sardinia, Italy). The results were also the subject of an invited talk at the "38th Dynamics Days Europe", September 2018, Loughborough and a plenary talk at the LMS Northern Regional Meeting (Newcastle, May 2018).
