- Double-weighted statement
- This 296 page monograph was published by Oxford University Press in 2018. This substantial work is the product of a deep immersion in original archival sources in multiple European languages, and includes extensive historical narration that moves nimbly between the 18th century operatic repertoire and infighting (‘low cabals’), cultural politics, and a revisionist account of Mozart’s fortunes and reputation, particularly with respect to his Italian comedies. Professor Jessica Waldoff describes the book as 'a remarkable achievement both for its new discoveries and for its profoundly original conception of a neglected topic: operatic rivalry in Vienna at the time of Figaro.'
