- Double-weighted statement
- This monograph, comprising 200,000 words and 200 illustrations, is the culmination of over a decade's research about photography, warfare, the media, and art. It is unique in its combination of materials, its use of images, its engagement with artistic practice, and the integration of its analyses of aesthetics and ideology. The research brings together diverse bodies of material in photographic history, media history and theory, political theory, military strategy, imperialism, and memory studies. It also integrates material generated through public talks and interviews with artists and photojournalists, and from curating exhibitions on the subject.
