- One of the major limitations of photocatalysis is the limited photocatalytic activity of the nanomaterials in the solar visible range, critical for environmental applications. This novel and significant contribution demonstrated for the first time that titanium dioxide graphene composites were much more active than the bench-market photocatalyst under real solar-conditions. This work was the result of an international collaboration between Florida International University, the Universities of Cincinnati and Ulster and Plataform Solar de Almeria-Spain. The research was recognised by the community e.g. Byrne, keynote lecture, 13th IWA Leading-Edge Conference (June-2016) and supported collaborations and awards GCRF-UKRI-SAFEWATER, H2020-PANIWATER, MSCA-REWATERGY.
