- This monograph is an extended study of 304 pages, and is the result of over ten years of original research. The argument is complex and wide-ranging, and examines the output of seven US authors within the historical, political and literary contexts of the First World War. It is based on extensive archive work with letters and manuscripts at libraries including the British Library, Houghton Library, and Churchill College, Cambridge. It also involved gathering previously uncollected source materials, and liaising with family members of the authors studied.
