- This paper presents for the first time an experimental methodology to assess natural hip joints in a laboratory simulator in terms of mechanical cartilage degradation. The study has formed a platform to develop further projects in this area (e.g. EP/R003971/1) that will assess surgical interventions in the hip. The work has been followed further with a CASE studentship from DePuy Synthes.
