- The book in question was the product of 6 years research in multiple archives: in London, Cairo, Washington and San Francisco. It utilises a vast quantity of primary sources in both Arabic and English (the over-3000 footnotes run to almost 200 pages). The book is just under 300,000 words long and is a major contribution to the historiography of the Muslim Brotherhood, which at least one reviewer has cited as being on a par with the seminal literature on the Brotherhood by scholars like Mitchell and Lia.
