- Double-weighted statement
- This book considers its central theme from a multidisciplinary perspective and draws on historical resources relating to a range of different periods and issues (the history of human rights, the history of property, the history of enclosure, etc.). Extensive use was made of archival resources, including seventeenth century letters and eighteenth century pamphlets, some but not all of which are available in electronic form. Use was also made of difficult-to-access eighteenth century cartoons and other images. The study, which took five years, combined close analysis of such textual and visual material with theoretical investigation and the elaboration of illustrative vignettes.
