- This project materialised through a protracted period of research over the course of several years in which I had to gather together myriad rare and hard to obtain newspapers, memoirs, journals and books. This involved extensive travel to archives throughout Europe and Iran itself. In light of the political turmoil within Iran between 2009-2013, this was no small task. There was also a need to build up trust and connections with leading reformist intellectuals, editors and politicians and undertake interviews and extended conversations with them, which went on to inform my scholarship.
