- For the first time, data mining algorithms to predict the load of EV charging and the impact on the grid, were validated using real data of charging events. This research led to Cipcigan advising policy makers (https://gov.wales/low-carbon-vehicles-report-expert-steering-group; https://gov.wales/sites/default/files/publications/2019-05/low-carbon-vehicle-steering-group-final-report.pdf) and a major project £915k EPSRC(EP/S032053/1) 'Decarbonising Transport through Electrification.' Cipcigan gave evidence at the National Assembly for Wales Economy, Infrastructure and Skills Committee, “EV charging infrastructure” and Committee of Climate Change “Reducing emissions from transport” (2018) (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-politics-46390201; http://www.assembly.wales/laid documents/cr-ld12394/cr-ld12394-e.pdf, https://senedd.wales/laid documents/cr-ld12394/cr-ld12394-e.pdf; https://twitter.com/theCCCuk/status/1065935016167907330https://senedd.wales/laid documents/cr-ld12394/cr-ld12394-e.pdf), and informed the BP ‘Future of Fleet’ Report (https://www.bp.com/en_gb/united-kingdom/home/products-and-services/bp-fleet/the-future-of-fleet-report.html) detailing the most significant challenges for Fleet operators.
