- This was part of EU project SUSPORTS, which was funded by Climate KIC involving academic and industrial partners from the UK (U. of Reading, CRESS), Spain (Port of Valencia) and the Netherlands (RHDHV). The proposed model of hoist motor power consumption showed very good dynamic accuracy during a container lift compared to measurements. The new model will support the design of energy savings techniques, including the use of energy storage, which can reduce the impact on the environment and fuel costs. Staff at the Port of Felixstowe were informed of the results (Contact: Wayne Travis TravisW@fdrc.co.uk).
