- I led a group of 4 PhD students and 3 RAs developing the multivariate techniques and boosted event analysis used to discriminate between signal and background events in the semi-leptonic mode. This is the discovery paper of the Higgs plus associated top (ttH) analysis from ATLAS and includes the final combined ttH result from five decay modes. The observed significance is 5.8 standard deviations, with a measured production cross section in agreement with the Standard Model prediction. This result provides a direct and sensitive test of the Higgs mechanism.
