- In this paper, we achieve two important goals for indoor positioning systems – we develop mathematical model for it and then optimise the performance of the positioning algorithm in terms of placement of LEDs to minimise positioning error. Besides mathematical modelling of optical wireless propagation, indoor positioning simulation results are for the first time confirmed by closed-form formulas for positioning error which we have derived and which show sub-metre accuracy for typical scenarios.
