- This work demonstrated the first practical turbo decoder that met the latency requirements of Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) 4G mobile communications. The IP underpinning this work was assigned to the spin-out AccelerComm Ltd in 2017 and embargoed for publication until 2019. AccelerComm now have corresponding patents pending in Europe (EP3549266A1), China (CN110402545A) and USA (awaiting publication) and they have productised this work in the form of Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) designs and as programs for Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) (https://www.accelercomm.com/turbo). AccelerComm has licensed these products to several mobile communication equipment manufacturers.
