- This book analyses the case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) from the perspective of theories of justice. It analyses over 50 cases from 1980-2015 in a range of areas (healthcare, education, labour law, social assistance) and systematises them in an original fashion, explaining the commitments to solidarity that are implicitly revealed in CJEU rulings. Linking these cases with work on justice from fields such as sociology and political theory was challenging and time-consuming (three years), as has been the introduction of theoretical concepts into the largely doctrinal field of EU free movement studies.
