- This paper sets up the landscape of current challenges for agile software development in practice. It evolved from a best paper award at XP, the main international conference in agile software development; it was one of four papers invited to submit to Information and Software Technology, a high impact factor journal. It is a ‘must cite’ reference for researchers exploring the way forward for agile development (Senapathi and Drury-Grogan 2017; Dingsøyr et al. 2018; Chita, et al. 2020), with citations doubling in the last year.
