- This book examines the emergence of Christian Zionism and its relation to an English national “mission” to promote Jewish restoration to Palestine from the seventeenth to mid-nineteenth centuries. Using extensive archival research, undertaken over a seven year period, it links ideas of religion and identity to develop a new model of prophetic national identity construction. The project was initially funded by a Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Irish Research Council (2011-12) and subsequently by several small research grants.
