- Chromium coating of aluminium components for the automotive industry protects them from harsh environmental conditions. However, the problem of poor surface coverage for components with complex geometry was addressed by this EPSRC-funded study. It demonstrates a methodology to solve this problem and thereby minimise exposure to corrosion attack. This novel procedure has made a huge impact especially in the automotive and aerospace smelting and plating industries, and was adopted by Merridale Polishing and Plating Company, Wednesbury.
